Faith in Christ begins with the echoing of the words of God (2 Timothy 3:16). Both scripture and creation are tied together because of this spoken Word. The breath of God is a promise that we belong to Him as His creation (Isaiah 43:1) and that we are part of His story. He teaches us that our life is one of continual calling through His Word (Isaiah 55:11) who is flesh for our sake (John 1:14). We confess boldly because this Word has meaning and shapes the very nature we live.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NRSV - 16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
Without this proclamation we are dead in sin. Therefore, we are to confess boldly so that others know their story (Roman's 10:17).
Romans 6:3-4 ESV - Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
